What band C means
Band C covers SAP scores from 69 to 80. It is the point at which a home is considered reasonably efficient: insulated walls and loft, double glazing and a condensing boiler or better.
Typical properties
Post-1990s houses, and older homes where cavity walls, the loft and the boiler have all been dealt with.

Yes, today. From 1 October 2030 the minimum for a private rented home rises to band C.
How do I improve the rating?
Insulation first, then heating and controls, then generation. Cheap measures such as loft insulation and cylinder insulation buy SAP points for a fraction of the cost of new windows or a heat pump.
