Booking an assessor locally

Any accredited domestic energy assessor can lodge a certificate anywhere in England & Wales, so “local” mainly affects travel time and therefore price. In cities you will usually find someone within a day or two; rural bookings take longer and cost more.

  • Check the assessor is accredited and ask for their scheme membership number.
  • Confirm the quote includes VAT and the lodgement fee.
  • Ask how quickly the certificate will appear on the register.
  • Have evidence ready for insulation that cannot be seen.
If a valid certificate already exists, you do not need a new one. Check the expiry date first.

Can I look up any address?

Any address in England & Wales with a certificate on the register. The data is public, published under the Open Government Licence.

Nothing comes up for my postcode. Why?

Certificates are only produced when a property is built, sold or let. A home that has stayed in the same hands for decades may never have had one.

What about Scotland and Northern Ireland?

They keep separate registers, which this site does not cover.
